Why a molasses pump should be a positive displacement gear pump
A centrifugal pump loses flow as viscosity rises. A gear pump moves the same volume at every revolution, however thick the molasses is, so the flow rate depends only on displacement and speed.
Our pumps are self-priming. They draw molasses even when the pump sits above the level in the tank, with no need to fill the suction line by hand.
Molasses transfer pump for farms and feed mills: unloading, storage, mixer wagon
On a livestock farm, in a feed mill or at a distillery, molasses arrives by road tanker and is unloaded into a storage tank. On farms and in mills it is then metered into the mixer wagon or the feed line. For unloading and bulk transfer we recommend the flanged NAV series, with theoretical flow rates from 54 to more than 2700 l/min. For dosing small quantities the ZV series starts below one litre per minute.
Pump for molasses in cold weather: the CR series with heating jacket
The CR series has a heating jacket that completely surrounds the pumping chamber. With a hot fluid circulating in the jacket, the molasses stays fluid inside the pump and the system restarts without strain after a winter night at a standstill.
Without heating, a geared motor that turns the pump slowly helps. The CR series also handles bitumen and chocolate.
