Why toothpaste is hard to pump
The paste is very viscous and holds its shape. A centrifugal pump cannot move it. A positive displacement gear pump moves a fixed volume at every revolution and creates the suction needed to draw the paste from the mixer outlet.
Toothpaste also contains mild abrasives. These are kind to teeth and less kind to machinery that runs fast. We select a low speed, usually with a geared motor unit, to limit wear and to move the paste without trapping air.
The series we normally propose: FX
For toothpaste we normally propose the FX series, made entirely of stainless steel machined from solid for the food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. Toothpaste is among the products of the cosmetic sector our pumps serve. The model must be confirmed by our technical office for your formulation.
Feeding the tube filling machine
A tube filler needs a constant supply at its hopper or directly at the dosing head. The gear pump gives a continuous flow, and since delivery is proportional to speed, you match the pump to the rhythm of the filler by regulating the motor.
Cleaning and change of flavour or colour
The FX pump can be completely dismantled in a few minutes for internal cleaning and is prepared for C.I.P. washing. You reach the gears and the chamber quickly when you change flavour, colour or stripe.
Producers of oral care items often fill other products on nearby lines. See our pages on cosmetic cream pumps, liquid soap and shampoo pumps and flavour and fragrance pumps. Send the flow rate and the details of your paste to the technical office in Bologna, Italy.
