Glucose, sugar syrups and pharmaceutical syrups
Glucose syrup is the heavy one. It is very viscous at room temperature and much more so when cold. Sugar and fruit syrups are thinner but sticky, and they crystallise on surfaces left to dry. Pharmaceutical syrups add the need for precise dosing and thorough cleaning.
A positive displacement gear pump suits all three, because each revolution moves the same volume whatever the viscosity.
FX series: stainless steel syrup pumps
For syrups the series we normally propose is the FX series. It is machined entirely from solid stainless steel for the food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. It dismantles completely in a few minutes, so sugar deposits can be washed away, and it is prepared for C.I.P. washing. A heating jacket is available for glucose that must be kept warm. Six models reach a theoretical flow rate of 247.1 l/min.
ZV series: dosing syrups at small flow rates
For metering we normally propose the ZV series, with theoretical flow rates from 0.47 to 102 l/min, threaded ports and direct flange mounting on the motor. Flow is proportional to speed, so the dose is set from the drive. Syrups are among the products our pumps handle in the pharmaceutical sector. In every case the model has to be confirmed by our technical office.
Sizing a syrup pump
Tell us the type of syrup, its concentration if you know it, the lowest temperature in the line and the flow rate. Our technical office in Bologna sets the model and the speed and advises on a geared motor for thick glucose. You can write to us on WhatsApp or send the quote form.
Products with similar behaviour are honey and molasses. For other ingredients see pumps for the food industry.
