What a thermal oil pump has to cope with
On a winter morning the oil in the pipes is cold and viscous. A few hours later it is hot and flows like a light liquid. A positive displacement gear pump moves a fixed volume at every revolution in both situations, so the circuit receives the flow rate you planned from the first minute.
Our pumps are self-priming. That helps when you fill the circuit from drums or from a storage tank below the pump, and when you drain it for maintenance.
NAV series for the main circuit, ZV series for small loops
The flanged NAV series lists thermal oils among its fluids and covers flow rates from 54 to 2770 l/min. We recommend it for transfer between tanks and for the larger loops.
The ZV series covers the small duties, from 0.47 to 102 l/min, with threaded ports and direct flange mounting to the motor. It fits temperature control units and compact skids where space is tight.
Thermal oil as the heating medium for other pumps
Thermal oil often feeds the heating jackets of other equipment. Our jacketed pumps for bitumen, resins and chocolate are kept warm by a hot fluid circulating around the pumping chamber. If you are designing a complete plant, we can supply both the product pump and the pump that moves the heating oil.
Sizing with our technical office
Operating temperature decides the construction of a thermal oil pump, so we do not publish generic limits. Send us the type of oil, the working temperature, the flow rate and the layout of the circuit. Our technical office in Bologna defines the model, the speed and the execution for your application.
We supply the bare shaft pump or the complete unit on a baseplate with coupling and guard.
